We are thrilled to share with our assisted and independent living community and our Mesa community that Fellowship Square Historic Mesa has been awarded a grant from Arizona Commission on the Arts. This is a huge honor for us and we know that it will be a great asset to the residents in our community. The Lifelong Arts Engagement Grant will provide additional creative programs that will help our independent and assisted living resident be challenged and enjoy being creative to enhance their lives.

We know that art has a huge impact on people and have seen such improvements with senior citizens when they have a creative outlet. Additionally, art is a way to keep your mind stimulated and can be used as therapies for some. Art is a popular activity with our residents and due to the above-mentioned benefits, we use it as a tool when it comes to our Alzheimer’s memory care and dementia care at our Mesa, AZ campus.

The grant is also a partnership with Arizona State University (ASU), which is a great chance for our community to work with our neighboring university. We believe this will be the first of many collaborations with ASU. Included in this project specifically we will be working on a theme and then as our residents create their pieces of art a catalog will be formed and then put on display at ASU as part of a traveling exhibit. Having our resident’s art in a traveling collection is very exciting and we know that our residents work will shine.
